Patek Philippe Annual Calendar
The Ladies' Collection
Patented technological innovation
In the spring of 1996, Patek Philippe made history by launching a new complication, the Annual Calendar. An innovation honoured as Swiss "Watch of the Year" in the year of its introduction, which in addition to its aesthetic and technical qualities, offered a complication considered "useful", easy to use and totally new.
This innovative mechanism has become one of the Manufacture's flagship models. A complication that indicates the date for months of 30 and 31 days and requires only one correction per year - from 28 or 29 February to 1 March.
The annual calendar patented by the Manufacture belongs to the family of "useful complications". It lies between the simple calendar, which needs to be adjusted five times a year for months with less than 31 days, and the perpetual calendar, which needs no correction at all.
Timepieces for connoisseurs of quality with style
The Annual Calendar, part of the Patek Philippe collection for over 25 years, offers a range of different dials and nuances of style - always combining elegant lines, superb materials and exquisite attention to finish.
While in the early years the models featuring this complication belonged to the men's collection, today the Ladies' public has five references equipped with the Calibre 324 S QA LU. This self-winding movement, with annual calendar functions (date, day and month) and moon phase indication, has a frequency of 28,800 vph and offers a maximum power reserve of 45 hours. The beauty and excellent execution of this 328-part movement, with a 21K gold rotor, can be appreciated through the sapphire crystal caseback.
References 4947G-010 and 4947R-001, with 38 mm Calatrava-type cases in white gold and rose gold respectively, are adorned with diamonds on the bezel, flanks and crown (1.34 ct). The white gold version features a silver dial with a shantung pattern, which gives it a very feminine touch of elegance, and a peacock blue alligator strap. The rose gold model combines a sun-brushed silver dial with a violine strap.
With the reference 4947/1A, Patek offers its annual calendar with a stainless steel case and a five-row bracelet in the same material. With the above mentioned 38 mm diameter, it is at the point that many might consider the ideal size for a dress watch, adapting to practically all wrists. The midnight blue dial with the familiar "shantung" pattern in the background, which contrasts with the finish on the sub-dials, emphasises the appeal of this model.
In the 4948G and 4948R, the feminine character and jewellery refinement are enhanced by the cases fully set with fine diamonds, as well as the bracelet buckle (2.92ct). In this model, the white gold version combines with a Balinese mother-of-pearl dial and pale grey alligator strap. While the rose gold version, with a dial in the same material, features a pearl-white bracelet.
Five interpretations of Patek Philippe savoir-faire that offer the modern woman who loves the brand watches that adapt to an elegant or more casual style, with a very feminine allure and sophistication.
