The Patek Philippe novelties for 2024
A look at timeless elegance
At the Watches & Wonders 2024 show in Geneva, Patek Philippe once again surprised enthusiasts with its latest novelties, presenting a blend of tradition and innovation that is its hallmark.
Among these, we highlight some of the most interesting references that we now have the opportunity to present in Portugal.
Ref. 5738/1R-001: The golden ratio
The modern-day Golden Ellipse receives its first metal bracelet, with fine rows of links reminiscent of gold mesh bracelets. A malleable and elegant rose gold bracelet with an engraved clasp, reminiscent of the 1970s, when this model became iconic. The ebony black "sunburst" dial is emphasised by rose gold hour indexes and fine hands. A timeless, uncluttered aesthetic that perfectly summarises the spirit of the Golden Ellipse.
The case, inspired by the famous golden ratio, measuring 34.5 x 39.5 mm, houses the ultra-thin self-winding calibre 240.
Ref. 5396G-017: A contemporary classic
For aficionados looking for a blend of contemporary design and classic elegance, with its graceful case proportions and exquisite detailing.
In an 18K white gold case, it features an elegant blue sunburst dial with a black gradient border, discreetly enhanced by the sparkle of twelve baguette-cut diamond hour indexes (0.26 ct). Its annual calendar complication, presented through windows at 12 o'clock, perfectly integrates functionality and aesthetics, complemented by the moon phase complication and 24-hour indication. Equipped with the self-winding calibre 26-330 S QA LU 24H, it indicates the date for the months of 30 and 31 days and requires only one manual adjustment per year at the end of February.
Ref. 5269R-001: Sporty chic
The Aquanaut Travel Time, in a new rose gold version, with an opalescent blue-grey dial, complemented by an integrated bracelet in composite material. Equipped with an exclusive quartz calibre, this travel watch with its "contemporary casual chic" style is distinguished by the Travel Time complication with a practical and discreet crown-operated setting system. The 38.8 mm case is enhanced by contrasting polished and satin finishes, as is the patented folding clasp.
Ref. 5160/500R-001: A tribute to tradition
In honour of Patek Philippe's rich heritage of perpetual calendar wristwatches, the Rare Handcrafts Ref. 5160/500 Retrograde Perpetual Calendar is reinterpreted in a new rose gold version with a silver opaline dial.
The dial center, bezel, case middle, crown, hinged cover and lugs, as well as the fold-over clasp and strap screws, are adorned with a hand-engraved decoration made up of volutes and foliage inspired by a pocket watch from the Patek Philippe Museum.
The self-winding calibre 26-330 S QR triggers the indication of the day, leap year cycle and month via the 9, 12 and 3 o'clock windows. The date is indicated by a retrograde hand travelling in an arc between 8 and 4 o'clock. The official-style case features a sapphire glass caseback protected by a hinged cover.
A timeless tribute to tradition that pays homage to the brand's legacy of watchmaking excellence, making it a sought-after piece in any connoisseur's collection.
Ref. 5330G-001: The Spirit of Exploration
Launched as a limited edition at the major Patek Philippe "Watch Art" exhibition in Tokyo in June 2023, the Reference 5330 enters the manufacture's regular collection.
A World Time watch for lovers of adventure and exploration, it is distinguished by a patented world first: a date display synchronised with local time, i.e. the time of the time zone selected at the 12 o'clock position on the city disc and indicated by the central hands.
In 18K white gold, it features a striking blue dial adorned with a hand-guilloched "carbon" motif. It's World Time complication allows wearers to simultaneously track the time in 24 time zones, satisfying the needs of global travellers and cosmopolitan enthusiasts.
As we explore Patek Philippe's 2024 novelties a little further, the brand's unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation and tradition is evident. From the reinvention of an icon, such as the Golden Ellipse, to the contemporary elegance of the Ref. 5396G-017 or the extraordinary Rare Handcrafts Retrograde Perpetual Calendar, each timepiece embodies the essence of the historic Patek Philippe legacy.
With a nod to tradition and a vision for the future, these novelties reaffirm Patek Philippe's status as an exceptional high watchmaking model.
