Breitling unveils the new Chronomat: the sporting icon returns more elegant and refined than ever

Created in the 1980s for the legendary Italian aerobatic squadron Frecce Tricolori, the Chronomat was born from the desire to unite exceptional performance with timeless elegance. Designed to meet the extreme demands of aviation, it quickly transcended the cockpit to become one of the most iconic watches in contemporary watchmaking. Breitling now presents the evolution of this icon — more refined, ergonomic and contemporary, while preserving the identity that made it instantly recognisable around the world.

An iconic design, now even more refined

The new Chronomat retains the signature elements that define its identity: the emblematic Rouleaux bracelet, the distinctive rider tabs on the bezel and the sophisticated sporty presence that made it a true symbol of the 1990s.The most notable update is the fully integrated case and bracelet design, creating a sleeker and more fluid silhouette on the wrist. The result is a watch that feels more comfortable, modern and versatile — designed to adapt effortlessly to different styles and occasions. The new models are available in a refined colour palette, featuring dials in white, blue, green, anthracite, ice blue and brown, offered in stainless steel, two-tone variations and gold.

A watch designed for everyday wear

More than an aviation-inspired chronograph, the Chronomat has established itself over the decades as Breitling’s ultimate all-purpose sports watch — seamlessly transitioning between formal and casual settings. The collection includes different sizes and configurations, adapting to a variety of lifestyles and preferences: The Chronomat B01 42 preserves the original spirit of the chronograph, now with a more ergonomic and refined case. The new Chronomat Automatic B31 40 introduces an elegant three-hand and date version, ideal for everyday wear. The Chronomat Automatic 36 offers a more compact and sophisticated interpretation, including versions with natural mother-of-pearl dials and precious details.

The natural evolution of a classic

While remaining faithful to the elements that define this iconic model, Breitling has chosen to subtly evolve the Chronomat by refining its proportions, ergonomics and overall aesthetic integration. The result is a watch that honours its heritage while fitting perfectly within contemporary watchmaking: sophisticated, functional and timeless.
